weekly recap.

me and the gf caught ice age 3. the cinema was disturbingly packed with kids on a weekday evening. tho it makes some sense considering the genre of the movie and that their parents pretty much knocked off at the same time as yours truly. ended up we were like just 3 rows away from the big screen. okie lah, neck abit of discomfort, but much endurable.

well ice age 3 was hillarious and warming! just like the previous two installations. i reckon with its strong set of core characters, it cant go very wrong. plus their personalities are all very audience- friendly and likeable. im not too sure if they can pull off another ice age 4 though! theres only so much you can do with nuts, ice, elephants and the likes. haha

the highlight of the week has to be the dim sum meal we had at jalan besar/serangoon. omygod. seriously i have been craving for the stuff there ever since my body digested the last inch of dim sum haha i diediediediediediediedie must go back!! the layout of the eatery is like those i always see in hongkong shows. its like a very homely place where hongkong-ers dig in to steaming hot dim sum, chatting loudly and the clattering of chop sticks as the rain pours outside and the temperature dips. exactly that kind of feeling the shop setting gave me. no frills, no fancy shop furnitures, but with all the attention and details on the food served. indeed, gastronomy at its best.

okay im trying to recall what else happened in the week. my mind totally drifted to thoughts of dim sum. hahaha

oh i went wala wala with the boys. haha think we hit home about 3a.m.. haha abit trying to act young. old people shouldn't stay out so late. its tiring. LOL. but had lots of fun. the food was good as well. or perhaps we were famished. the pizzas disappeared in under 3 minutes. the band just got better as the night progresses. eic is undoubtedly the treat of the night. their stage presence was impressive. not surprisingly, considering their line up boosts veterans like jack and rai. the former was the most charming of the lot. bet females go ga-ga over him. hes like the kind that doesn't need to try. he doesn't have huge biceps, nice tan, well styled hair, etc. but his smile, his talent and his charisma reminds us that some people are just naturally likeable. okay enough about jack, me no gay eh.

dropped by nette's smu commencement as well. and like i msg yj, smu people are all so freaking tall. granted the girls were on heels, but i've been ard girls in heels at nbs, but they ain't so lanky! its scary. the girls were already that tall, but the boys were tall and beyond. depressing! hahaha

met up with some of the og peeps to celeberate james' bdae as well at dhoby exchange. the herbal chicken set was tasty. the soup did the job. anw, today is james actual birthday. happy birthday lao da! thanks for all the sacrifices you made for uoc, v grp and as a friend. hope your endless years ahead are always filled with happiness and bliss (:

i miss the girlfriend. tmr tmr tmr!! grinsss

before this place get buried under the caves again, here i am to salvage whats left.

yet another week crossed from the calendar.

done lots these 7 days.

went downtown east with the girlfriend! haha to get my fix of chicken rice.! we clocked the mileage just for mr chicken rice at downtown east which is apparently under this ex mandarin hotel chef. as we food lovers all know, mandarin hotel can close down but it should never stop selling chicken rice. thats how good the dish is over there. i swear! in any case, it wasn't my first time there. once again, the review is pretty consistent. the soup and the rice i have no complaints. all the right details. but the meat was lacking. it was decent, but not can-die-for standards. i think the famous one at maxwell probably will kick its ass. haha

met up with a friend at hv's coffee bean. hes going during rough patches. i tink his situation more or less epitomizes the saying when it rains, it pours. the bottomline is that he has alot of shit to handle. what positive is that it is all under his own hands. he need to dictate his direction and work towards it. easier said than done i know. hence, most of the time i offer a listening ear. most ppl knows whats the right thing to do, so theres really no point preaching. hope he lift himself out of camp sorrow soon.

significantly, my very brave other friend shaved his hair BALD as part of ccf's hair for hope campaign. targetted at spreading awareness and all that. even though the whole world claims hair will grow, i tink the act of shaving for a cause is nothing short of chivary. for that i salute him! haha got to see him with his new 'hair style' as we met for our prata session. i rushed through gym before makan-ing with him though. haha its really not about the food. but the shit we share thats really worth meeting up after long days at work.

also got to see my army people which is quite a steal considering i skipped reservist this year. much thanks to internship. yea so the agenda was soccer at FICO. hardcore shagged after that i tell you. haha i brought yj with me too. hope he enjoyed playing ball with us. haha nice seeing old familiar faces. good workout. takeaways also included very sore quads, thighs and everything below the erms waist.

friday was timetable bidding time. hence no waking up before the sun is at my ass. much appreciated. thanks ntu for planting it on a working day!! so wm came over to my house and we did the STARS thing all over again. one more sem of this and we are done. or rather thats the ideal scenario. haha

the gf came for a stayover this weekend. very blissful (:

sat was a long one. did breakfast, arcade and library with the girl. haha seriously, to me arcade is regaining its seduction. its pretty uncle- friendly these days. haha

oh and i managed to meet up with desmond wong this weekend. omgawd. i havent seen the chap for like 9 years since he uprooted overseas for studies. haha hes still so nice. its unbelievable. none of the bad values from other parts of the globe got to him. hes still the person i used to know. we chatted for hours. amazing. and we learnt so much about each other's life . really hope to squeeze one more meetup with him before the guy flies again.

and attended julie's 21st as well. it was at aranda country club. my maiden time there actually. not a bad place for retreats and family time i reckon. her party had alot of ballooons! haha and i have to confess her buffet was one of the few that tasted good from all the 21st i've attended thus far. not that the rest were bad, but hers stand out somehow.! haha and her dad was impeccably nice towards the guests. haha happy 21st julie!

was supposed to swim with the girl this week. but the weather wrecked our plans! roar. nvm soon soon!

the girl and i had a dinner at the istimawa place at cck. we both fell in love with that eatery like long time ago. this time we tried more health conscious stuff. meaning off goes the stingray. but the satisfaction level certianly didn't dip a single bit. it was still mama miaa. very awesome. the vegetable soup was very tasty and uber generous with its contents. the sliced fish with onion was finger licking stuff as well. the gravy was the icing i telll you! smashing meal (:

alrighty 2 more weeks to end of internship! bring it!!

ALIVE

and yes MJ has passed away. i do acknowledge that tributes and all that are apt responses to the death of an immense talent. but what i cannot digest with satisfaction is how people abuse the word fan. like hes dead, and suddenly everyone is a MJ fan. me am no walking dictionary, but i comprehend that fan is either a thing that osciliates and generate wind or someone who idolizes his object of obsession throughout his lifetime, not only when he lies in a coffin.

its generous to pay your respects and tributes. but please don't call yourself a fan. unless you're truly one. i for one, confess im not.

i do appreciate how he had value- add mankind during his existence though. even if his lifestyle was controversial, his music was certainly not. rip mr michael jackson. thanks for the moonwalks.

--

so im back. internship life has been quite a blast. haha less memory failure, i only went home for dinner like 5 times ever since PA started 7 weeks ago. afterwork is gf, gym or friends. its always really nice to have something to look forward to at the end of the regimental day. the kickass bonus is that unlike school, u just put everything down when its knockoff. nothing leaves the office. at least for me. haha

but waking up that early religiously 5 days a week is a daunting task. with this degree of discipline, i feel quite like a monk.

and i need a haircut. speaking of which, wm is going to get a very good haircut come monday. you will get what i mean if you see him anytime from now till at least 3 months later. haha i cant wait!!

h1n1 sounds bad. the strategy focus probably will switch from prevention to cure soon. at the rate its contaminating the population, there is no way quarantine can be extensive enough. the army will shut down, the police will close shop, the economy will sink, schools will be closed and nothing is going to work. there is only so much you can prevent.

okay. my randomness will take a break. i just reached home from a cousin's birthday celebration . of which i was embarrasingly late, and missed the cake - cutting =/ .

alright enough. IM BACK

My Not So Secret Lives ending

Trey's blog:

Today is D Day. E is going for the confirmation check up.
I was half awake last night and a thought struck me. Maybe Obama has a solution to Eleanor and Cameron deepening woes. Hes like superman now, minus the red underwear ( And no, im not implying he has gone commando. but u get my drift.)

I gave up counting plates of chicken rice (sheeps are passe) and crawled out of my bed. Insomnia wasn't my thing, but last night i contracted it. I googled stuff about HIV and AIDS, more out of curiosity than concern for E. Hey at least im honest.

The returns of my research confirmed my belief that alot amongst us have alot of misunderstandings about the illness and we should really read more to find out!

Then i heard my mum knocking on my door. As predictable as the fact that Singapore will not win the next world cup, i knew within the following 5 seconds, mum's next action would be to open the door and enter.

I was overwhelmed with panic. Its 2a.m. and the implication of me being caught reading up on STDS and the likes would certainly turn my room into a church for the next couple of weeks. Plus, by experience, mum's preaching sessions don't even pause for lunch.

I alt f4-ed instinctively. Mum left the room with a awkward smile.

Shit, i figured she must have thought i was watching porn. Damn.

Okay the phone is ringing, its Jesse. Its time for the news. Oh man, i hate endings.

I just got a feeling tomorrow’s entry will have a plot worthy of the Oscar. Regardless of the outcome.

Okay, i shall quit being a coward. Time to pick up the phone

----
The following day:

I’ve never personally witness a guy tear so much in my life before
.
After digesting the news Jesse revealed to me, we arranged to meet at C’s flat. We entered the empty house as Jesse got the keys from E.

His room was typical him. Egocentric.

I saw a huge poster of a triumphant christiano ronaldo beside his bed. C obviously doesn’t clear thrash from his room.

Then we saw the scrapbook. THE scrapbook.

Jesse and I agreed we won’t survive the next minute without dying of suspense. Hence to save lives, we flipped open the scrapbook.

It was really thick, lots of colours at first glance.

Cameron divided the scrapbook into two sections. One was done with the idea that E is HIV-positive while the other was prepared for the happier scenario.

The former section had pages filled with encouraging words of his. He even cut and pasted alot of articles of past HIV victims who stood brave against the illness, stigma and continued integrating in the society. There was a segment C named FAQ where he listed all the common misunderstandings about the illness and clarified them. He sounded very reassuring. It really felt like C was talking to E with his hands over her shoulder as I read all the stuff he wrote.

“what you need is support. I will be your boyfriend, your brother and your best friend.”

The happier scenario pages were mostly his words and some of the lovey dovey photos he and E took. In short, C really wants to make the relationship work and he repeatedly emphasize how much this whole saga has taught him how important E was to him.

“three words. One meaning. I love you.”

Jesse and I felt we really ventured too much into his privacy when we read the content which told us he fully understood why E slept with her ex a month ago out of revenge. Apparently, C slept with his ex once after he and E were already an item, and that triggered E’s foolish actions.

Cameron was home. He stared at us. Half in anticipation and half in shock at our uninvited presence. We figured Eleanor hasn’t answered his call.

Jesse nudged me over and i whispered the news to Cameron.

C went down on his knees. Silence.

And then the tears flowed. He cried out loud. Very loud. He composed himself abit and dashed for the phone.

“Hello Eleanor? I love you i love you i love you i love you!’

And then the smile between the tears.

“I just knew a girl like you would be blessed. Lets start all over again my girl!”

Eleanor tested negative at her final medical screening this morning. Jesse and I sneaked into C’s flat to spring a surprise celebration and break the news to C. We were supposed to order food and drinks before E will come over to join us and wait for C to return home. But eventually, C came home alot earlier than we predicted.

Im very sure E and C are going to work things out.

But really. This whole episode has taught us not to be casual about the act of sex. Its not cool to have mutliple partners. Not cool AT ALL. A condom is a necessity, but often misused as an excuse for sleeping around. Respect is the word. For your body, for your healthy life and for yourself.

So what about Jesse and I?

Sadly my life is not a fairy tale. There isn’t a happy ending to this.

Nah just kidding!

Jesse and I have made plans for tons of dates! This whole saga has deprived us the opportunity of spending time acting like couples freshly in love. So we are going to make up for lost time!

Our relationship will be like those romantic comedies! And im hugh grant. The lead who always melt his girl!

That day my buddies caught me grinning at my handphone wallpaper which was an image of Jesse. I was teased the whole night.

But those boys know me best. That is really not what Trey would do. That is the equivalent of Alex Ferguson kissing a referee.

But heck, I'm in love. Totally.

Jesse, you upsize my heart!

anyone still breathing here? =x

Sunday, January 11, 2009

this spanish couple is blinking adorable and sweet!

their voices are pitch perfect too. hit the play button!

a friend's remark on msn instigated me to re- read what i wrote in the previous entry.

i don't tink i hit the wrong note, but in any case, i need to clarify it here.

nono i wasn't referring to any relationships related issues.

Friday, January 9, 2009

in 2008, in the earlier half of the year,i ran into problems. huge mighty ones.

for those who have no idea what im referring to, please don't ask.

those were very testing times. quite honestly, it was the first time i genuinely felt i had to handle grown up issues by myself and solve them with both my hands bare.

it taught me never to mis-use the word stress. ever again. ever.

cuz nth came close at all to the unfortunate situation i found myself caught in.

it was one of those things u cant run away from or buy yourself much time.

i didn't turn to my family. firstly, i wasn't desperate enough. secondly, i had no guts. but lastly, i had the hidden confidence that i have friends who won't show me the door.

true enough, those that i seeked help from, none shunned away.

today, if i haven't thank them enough, i shall do it here.

there are 4 of them.

i admit these are people whom i dun meet up with often or spend enough time with.

yet, they gave me the two elements that meant the world to me back then.

trust and patience.

i can't ask for more. this i will never forget.

thank you den
thank you lynnette
thank you ryan
thank you dames

as people rush to finish up their last sentences of their resolution lists for the exciting year ahead, i decided to pursue my personal tradition of not having any.

thats primarily because ever since i wrote a resolution to jump more and grow 10cm by the end of sec 2, i prematuredly affirmed that resolutions are bullshit.

in any case, im just here to wish everyone who sets their eyes on this entry, a great 2009 ahead. good health right at the top of the list, with love of all forms a very close second. sucess in numerous fields will bring alot of smiles too.

Mairi Campbell And Dave Franci - Auld Lang Syne
tink the song above sets the mood for one to reflect on the year that has passed (:

have an awesome and happy year ahead (:

lo and behold,results are out.

to say the least, i feel let down. all that is left to do is to reflect and determine whether i have the right to be disappointed. or that its an outcome i shld humbly accept.

in any case, im not down and out! theres another 3 sems. and life goes on eh. plus, seriously all ntu accountacy students end up at the same workplaces, regardless of what honours we ultimately achieve. cuz the big 4 offer jobs even before the year 3 sem 1 results are out =x

Saturday, December 27, 2008

starhub is pure disappointment. i will always remember and give them credit for they were the one who brought competition into the market and first offered free 56k internet access to all, many years back. but my experience with them of late has been less than pleasant.

a week ago, i was at their bpp dealer outlet. due to some paperwork constraints, we were advised that it would be more smooth for us to head down to the core branches of starhub itself to renew our contracts, and subsequently purchase a phone.

this morning starhub really took us for a ride. the plaza sing main branch quote us a price that was 100 bucks more than what the bpp outlet offered, and the guy explained that the starhub dealers are indepedent in their price quotations and often resort to promotions. i was bewildered. the price difference was significant enough for a humble man like me. so we queried the gentleman as to whether we could then renew our contract and purchase the phone from the dealers. and he totally rubbed it in. he said yes.

so my question was why did the dealer at bpp suggested otherwise? but then it wud be silly to lash at the plaza sing guy or make him explain why it costs 100 bucks mre here. pointless.

so the nx nearest starhub main centre was uob plaza. the staff there up our level of amazement. they quote a price that was 40 bucks more than the dealer, but 60 bucks less than their own core centre at plaza sing. its almost like starhub was having a mood swing.

anw the price was clearly stated beside the phone in the cabinet. so the sensible thing was to ask the staff, albeit without much confidence in his answer even before he cud offer i must admit. so he proclaimed with much zest that it is indeed the price stated in the cabinet. i went on to tell him about the price differences around this small little island. he then fumbled abit with his impressing looking computer, before offering that he made a mistake and the price was the same as what plaza sing suggested, which is 60 bucks more than wads appearing in their own cabinet.

i didn't exactly roll my eyes, but it wud b apt then. i just pointed to the cabinet and he obliged with his explanation. he said the price went up and they have yet to update! like seriously? when do phone prices go up? inflation? plus it was a old model that was just shelved aside by a newer model of similar series.

we let it go and left the uob outlet. i mean i understand service staff has a tough job. singaporeans are impossible to serve. but his lack of professionalism, knowledge, and apparently training, makes me feel he is ill eqiupped to handle customers at all. i honestly felt i cud give the same service right away if i put on his ugly polo tee and stand behind the decevingly-bright counter. or perhaps i cud do one better and at least bother to call the plaza sing outlet to clarify.

just as we decided to leave this seemingly impossible task to a better day, or maybe decide its time to walk on sunshine or buy a red umbrella instead, bugis junction saved the day. or at least the starhub dealer there did. it gave the lowest price, processed our renewal contract and we were done.

anw today is day 2. i read her letter this morning. but today's letter has 2 installation! part a and b. heh she mentioned in part a that i can strictly only read b at nite. hmmm. intruiging. and she attached a piece of chocolate to letter a. tink im gng to isolate it in the fridge and share it w her when shes home (:
today is day 2.

i miss her.
p.s. darkened the illustration to make it more visible
town was madness. crazily crowded. quoting kennysia, 'recession? whats that? is that a handbag?'

end up none of us bought anything. headed towards holland v afterwards. was at coffee bean. then dinner. then bean again.then breko's. and lastly a bar opp subway which i have no idea whats it called! watched two boxing day games with the guys at the last two hangouts.. just reached home. had a pretty long day. considering i didn't catch much wink last nite.

and im gng out at 10a.m. tmr. better go sleep soon.

i miss her.
